Although Mercury retrograde (or any retrograde for that matter) is an affliction, its only one of many possible indicators. In our view, too much emphasis is placed on Mercury retrograde and its often blamed for circumstances when it shouldnt be, where a dozen or more other astrological or numerological considerations are more closely related to the situation.
